Job Creation in Lifesaving Services

IMG 0885In Mogadishu lifesaving activities in Water, Sanitation and Health have worked to provide hundreds of new job opportunities for the most vulnerable.

“In the camps, I work to monitor and check the progress of latrines construction. My work is to supervise and train the casual labors from the camps on basic construction and upkeep. There are many and it is hard work but I am very happy for it. For me, the work is very good as I live in Afgooye and can return daily spending every night at home with the family.” Mr. Mohamed Baaldooro – Latrine construction supervisor, Mogadishu

“We use to share one latrine with ten families. Sometimes my children could not even go to school on time because of the long queue to the latrine in the morning hours. It wasn’t until HIJRA came and constructed the new latrines that we were able to start using a toilet all the timeNow my children are even on time to school!" Hawo Liban- WASH beneficiary, Ilaal IDP camp Mogadishu
