HIJRA Uganda begins settlement assessments in the Rwamwanja Refugee Camp

resize finalTo support its current initiatives in the country, HIJRA Uganda together with UNHCR and the office of the Prime Minister, conducted an intensive three day assessment in the Rwamwanja refugee settlement.

The assessment designed to identify needs in WASH, Health, Education and Livelihoods, was performed by HIJRA staff and worked to conduct interviews and group meetings with key partners, local leaders and beneficiaries.

Assessment Objectives:

  • To gather information on key areas of intervention; Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), livelihoods, Health and Education.
  • To use the information gathered to respond to the needs of the 20,000 refugees in Rwamwanja Settlement beginning October 2012.
  • To use the gathered information to mobilize more financial resources to minimize human suffering for the population in the settlement.

In response to the needs found, HIJRA with the support of UNHCR, will work to distribute a donation of 500 Aquabox filtration systems in the Rwanwanja camp before the years end.
