HIJRA begins 24 hour health services in Mogadishu

March 2, 2012- In thanks to funding received from the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, HIJRA's Badbaado Mother and Child Healthcare clinic is now able to provide 24 hour emergency healthcare services in Mogadishu.

The clinic located in K7 of Mogadishu, a frontline IDP camp, works to provide emergency services to a population of 30,000 in primary health, treatment of communicable disease, delivery of safe motherhood services in EmONC (Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care), ANC (antenatal), delivery, PNC (postnatal), and gynecological care.

"I woke to such pain.  I didnt know I had been shot till I saw the blood.  I knew I would not make it to the big hospital.  I was so scared to leave my shelter.  My children had to bring me the little distance to the HIJRA clinic.  If they had not been opened tonight my children would be orphans." Halima, Badbaado Mother and Child Healthcare Beneficiary

The HIJRA Clinic is currently the only facility inside the camp supporting safe motherhood services providing care for both IDP and Host community needs.
