The cash relief programs, designed to provide support to those displace by the 2011 famine through the provision of 75 dollar monthly cash stipends, has been ongoing since September 2011 and currently provides support to over 12,000 Households in Hodan, Wadajir, Wabari, Hamar Jajab, Boondhere, Dharnkeley, Abdiaziz, Shibis and Shangani.

“Before I had no monies, food was hard to get and my children always had sicknesses. I was waiting a long time for this help, now I can take my son to hospital. It has been very bad to see him suffer.  I thank Allah and HIJRA for helping me.”  Faduma Omar, program beneficiary Badbaado IDP settlement, Mogadishu

HIJRA and OXFAM are further working to ensure beneficiaries security and the receipt funds through the creation of photo ID collection cards. The HIJRA OXFAM partnership has been working to provide Livelihoods support in Mogadishu since 2007.
