Innovation in Waste Management
In response to the 2011 Famine and resulting pressure placed on Public Health Capacities inside Somalia’s overcrowded IDP settlements, HIJRA and partner OXFAM worked to design and implement innovative Waste Management Disposal Systems in 2 of the largest IDP camps in Mogadishu; Badbaado and Silliga.

HIJRA begins Construction on its First Water Platform of 2012
In early January 2012, HIJRA teams in Somalia began construction on the programs newest water platform. The platform located in Mogadishu’s Jaamacadda district has been designed to hold 2 T-70 water tanks serving a total population of 70,000 per day through the provision of safe and clean water.
