HIJRA begins Construction on its First Water Platform of 2012
In early January 2012, HIJRA teams in Somalia began construction on the programs newest water platform. The platform located in Mogadishu’s Jaamacadda district has been designed to hold 2 T-70 water tanks serving a total population of 70,000 per day through the provision of safe and clean water.
HIJRA’s newly launched WASH project objectives; to provide safe drinking water, sanitation facilities and hygiene education to 70,000 individuals living in 52 of Jaamacadda Districts settlements (formerly known for the Ex-Somali National University) was launched in early December and set to delivery its first phase in Mid-January.
Project Activities Include:
- Construction of pit latrine
- Construction of water tanks
- Provision of water pumps
- Procurement of materials
- Development of water piped water system and distribution
