The Program, designed to assist the 3,500 vulnerable refugee households located within the camps borders, has worked to construct two, 20,000 liters water tanks for the provision of clean water.

“We first came to the camp on Sunday and have worked round the clock to deliver, seeing our water tanks set up and filled in three days!" - Abel Asiimwe, HIJRA Program Officer

The program further helped to bolster community resources through the employment of refugees in its initial phases.

HIJRA has been present in Uganda since 2012, making its first intervention in the Matanda Refugee Transite Camp
