Rotation of IMG 2647

June 20, 2012 - In an effort to support its communities and assist in raising awareness for refugees around the world, HIJRA joined with other NGO and UN agencies in support of the 2012 World Refugee day held in Nairobi, Kenya.

This year's commemoration, themed "1 Refugee without Hope is too Many", was held on Wednesday the 20th of June at the National Museum of Nairobi and attended by refugees, aid agencies, donors and government officials.

"We are honored to have been asked to participate in the annual commemoration.  The event truly does a great deal to create awareness for the plight of the modern refugee and allows HIJRA and other like-minded organizations to showcase what they are doing to help alleviate human suffering." – Jimmy Barasa, Education Program Officer

World Refugee Day (WRD) is an event that is celebrated worldwide every year on June 20th to provide an opportunity for the International Community to interact with those who have been forced to flee their homeland to seek asylum in other countries and to reaffirm their values upon which International Agreements for Refugee Protection are based

HIJRA has been supporting the event since 2011.
