Resize of 24

May 5, 2012 - To support communities in need, HIJRA worked to distribute 500 Aquabox filtration systems in 6 districts of Mogadishu; Hodan, Jaamadadda, Bondhere, Shangani, Siliga and Badbaado.

The Aquaboxes equipped with; water purification tablets, essential hygiene items, plastic sheeting, children's toys, clothing and learning equipments were distributed to the most vulnerable; physically impaired, women headed households and families with severely malnourished children.

The AQUABOX, a robust plastic tank, can be used to purify up to 1,100 liters of polluted water, providing up to 5,000 cups of safe clean drinking water- enough to last a family of four, drinking 10 cups per day, four months.-

"We are very grateful to receive such a generous donation. As we gear up for the Cholera season the filtration system coupled with its welfare materials will truly help to prevent unnecessary loss of life." - HIJRA WASH Program Officer
