In order to better coordinate activities in the region and address the needs of the most vulnerable on May 2, 2012 HIJRA opened its third country program office in Kampala, Uganda.

The new country program office, managed by staff in programs and program support, is mandated to undertake relevant assessments in WASH and Livelihoods for the development of humanitarian programming in the country's refugee camps.

“This is a very exciting step in HIJRA’s growth. Our expansion into Uganda not only represents staff’s desire to support a larger community but the organizations evolution. I am extremely grateful to all those that assisted us in setting up this new office and very much look forward to the success of our coming program activities.” – Mohamed Dahir, HIJRA Executive Director.

HIJRA has been present in region for two decades with programs in Somalia, Kenya and Uganda.
