In thanks to our relationships with local and international partners, various UN agencies, community leaders, beneficiaries and various other stakeholders Hijra has been able to effectively penetrate and provide care for the most vulnerable in the Horn of Africa.
To ensure the implementation and coordination of humanitarian activities in the Region HIJRA activity participates in and coordinates with UN Clusters, Consortiums and relevant working groups. In 2012, HIJRA was elected one of the 6 NGO representatives on the Somalia Humanitarian Country Team (HCT).
It is through these alliances that HIJRA is allowed the freedom and ability to focus exclusively on the provision of lifesaving care to those in need.
Since 2007 HIJRA and OXFAM GB have partnered to provide WASH and Livelihoods support to over 300,000 of the most vulnerable throughout South Central Somalia. The partnership has worked to construct, design and distribute; water tanks and collection points, hygiene materials, cash transfers and community capacity building programs.
Since 2009 HIJRA has been partnered with WHO to ensure essential health care is provide to the most vulnerable in in South Central Somalia. The partnership currently works to provide and distribute essential medicines, equipment’s and hygiene supplies while rehabilitating pre-existing medical clinics to ensure access for all.
HIJRA has been a member of the UN OCHA Somalia WASH Cluster since 2007. HIJRA's current role in the Cluster is served on the Technical Cluster Review Committee (CRC); an elected position to review, revise and feedback on the Consolidated Appeals Process (CAP) Project Sheets submitted from organization within. In 2011, HIJRA was further elected to sit as a Strategic Advisor for WASH activities in Somalia/Somaliland.
HIJRA has been a member of the UN OCHA Somalia Health Cluster since 2010.
HIJRA has been a contributing member of the UN OCHA Somalia Agricultural and Livelihoods Cluster since 2007.
HIJRA has been a member of the UNHCR Urban Refugee Protection Network since 2010.The vetted member position provides a forum for exchange coordination and design of urban programs in Nairobi and its environs.
HIJRA is also a contributing member of both the UNHCR Livelihoods and Educations Working Groups.
